CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA)- – The Quirino province’s artisans who belong to 12 livelihood organizations showcased their craftsmanship during the three-day Manila FAME 2024 on October 17-19, 2024 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila.
The exhibitors were Maddela Flowers & Crafts, Dumabato Senior Citizens Association, Livelihood Association of Egongots, Van Scents Handicrafts Studio, Ulat Woodcarvings, Conan Arts & Crafts, Flowery Hue Handicrafts Manufacturing, RJS Furniture, Tigergrass Manufacturing, Vieda Faith Nolyn MJ Handicrafts and Macate Diffun United Farmers Association
Various products, from fossilized flowers and stylish “bayong” bags to scented candles, furniture and furnishings, bamboo handicrafts, and intricately carved wooden pieces, were exhibited at the Quirino Artisans Village and OTOP Pavilion at F15-D16.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Quirino Provincial Director Mary Ann Corpuz Dy said the individual booths of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) also showcased the organizations’ artistic innovations rooted in rich cultural heritage and creative design flair.
“Visitors were able to explore the craftsmanship and environmentally sustainable products, which are skillfully crafted and have a distinct style,” Dy said, adding that these products are made from indigenous materials that abound in the region and were enhanced through DTI R2’s intensive product development.
The Quirino Artisan Village ribbon cutting was graced by the officers and staff of DTI Region 2, led by Regional Director Ma. Sofia G. Narag, QSU President Hermenegildo F. Samoy, Jr and Quirino Provincial Government Office led by Vice Governor Jojo Vaquilar and Provincial Administrator Carmelita Jimenez.
This year’s Manila Fame carried the theme REIMAGINATION, where the best of the Philippines’ local enterprises, craftsmen, and artisans translate the country’s abundant raw materials into functional and aesthetic pieces.(TCB/PIA-2, QUIRINO)
