Regional Anti-Trafficking Task Force 6 Victim Witness Coordinator lawyer Mayren Abucion explained the significance of the Blue Heart Campaign during the program.

“Blue Heart symbolizes or represents solidarity with human trafficking victims, the cold heartedness of human traffickers to buy and sell their fellow human beings and it also represents the color of the United Nations,” Atty. Abucion said.

The Blue Heart Campaign calls for solidarity to work hand-in-hand in ending human trafficking.

For his part,  Commission on Human Rights 6 Promotion and Education Division chief Christopher Montaño emphasized the need to educate the community about this campaign.

“Kinahanglan pagid naton ang mas harder effort to reach out to our communities because what is at stake here is the future of our children,“ he said.

(We need to put in more effort to reach out to our communities because the future of our children is at stake.)

The advocates and partner agencies signed the pledge of commitment to fight human trafficking during the event.

Proclamation No. 1180 declared the month of July as the “National Anti-Trafficking in Persons Awareness Month” in the country, and July 30 is World Day Against Trafficking. (AAL/ED/PIA 6)
