CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) — The Regional Development Council (RDC) endorsed 179 priority projects for 2025 to foster sustainable progress across Nnorthern Mindanao during its 137th Full Council meeting.
“These are projects that induce growth or expand social and economic opportunities for our people, targeting especially our lagging areas, and these projects support our transformation agenda,” said National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA)-10 Regional Director Mylah Faye Aurora Cariño.
Three among the 179 priority projects for 2025 are the completion of the 12-storey Trauma and other Multi-Specialty Centers Building of the Northern Mindanao Medical Center, the construction and completion of the Muslim-Unity Crossroad in support of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front Communities Transformation Program in Lanao del Norte, and the formulation of a master plan and preparation for the establishment of the Northern Mindanao Regional Government Center.
These projects, with a budget of P88.55 billion, aim to accelerate socio-economic transformation in the region, targeting areas with untapped potential for growth and development.
The national transformation agenda includes digitalization, servicification, a dynamic innovation ecosystem, enhanced connectivity, greater collaboration between local and national governments, and partnerships with the private sector.
These projects are seen to speed up socio-economic transformation by addressing complex and special health needs of the region’s constituents, expanding socio-economic opportunities, contributing to attaining sustained and lasting peace, and transforming the regional governance landscape in Northern Mindanao, respectively.
In addition to endorsing these high-impact projects, RDC-10 also approved the 2025 budget and project proposals across various sectors, totaling P421 billion.
Lanao del Norte Gov. Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo, chairperson of RDC-10, underscored that the endorsed budget reflects the collective aspirations of the people. She emphasized that the proposals underwent rigorous evaluation and garnered support from civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, private sector stakeholders, and Congressional representatives in northern Mindanao.
