RDC Ilocos chair to deliver region’s economic, development state on June 28

SAN FERNANDO City, La Union (PIA) — The Regional Development Council (RDC) chair and Ilocos Norte governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc is set to deliver the Ilocos State of the Region’s Development Conference (SORDC) on June 28 at the Hotel Ariana in Bauang town.

Manotoc’s report will cover the region’s performance toward attaining the RDC Ilocos’ vision of “REACH Region 1” which stands for Resilient, All-inclusive, Competitive, and Healthy Region 1.

This long vision encompasses the Regional Development Plan (RDP) 2023-2028 anchored in the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028 and the “Ambisyon Natin 2040” of matatag, maginhawa, at panatag na buhay (stable, comfortable, and tranquil life for all).

Focusing on its vision of REACH Region 1, Manotoc will elaborate on the region’s performance based on the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) data— the total monetary value of all final goods and services produced in the area in 2023.

GRDP was previously reported to climb 7.1 percent, reaching a total value of P701.5 billion significantly outpaced the previous year’s P654.8 billion.

The RDC’s key development priorities, policy directions, and the contribution of its partners in development are also included in Manotoc’s SORDC.

The event will be attended by RDC members comprised of regional line agency heads, sectoral committee chairs, private sector representatives, and local chief executives.

Subsequently, the “Pammadayaw Awards”, a recognition ceremony to honor the contributions of the RDC partners and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) efforts of regional line agencies, state colleges and universities, government-owned and controlled corporations, and provincial local government units, will also take place.

This aims to improve efficiency and increase the productivity of M&E efforts in the region. (MJTAB/REB/PIA Region 1)
