ILOILO CITY (PIA) – – The Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) in Western Visayas wrapped up the celebration of the 35th National Statistics Month (NSM) in the region with the announcement and giving of prizes to the winners of the various contests launched.
Regional Statistics Committee 6 Chairperson and NEDA 6 Director Arecio Casing, Jr., led the closing and awarding ceremony for this year’s regional celebration on October 25, 2024 at the National Museum of the Philippines – Iloilo here.
Casing extended his heartfelt appreciation and congratulations to everyone for their valuable contributions to ensure the success of these statistical events this year in his message during the ceremony which was pushed through despite the stormy weather that day.
“With NSM our collaborative efforts at the RSC to bring statistics to the forefront as a discipline and development tool have gained interest and support from our stakeholders,” said Casing.
He was assisted by PSA 6 Director Nelida Amolar, BSP Iloilo Branch Acting Area Director Doreen Santerva and PSA, Inc. 6 Chairperson and WVSU College of Arts and Sciences Dean Alexander Balsomo in the awarding of trophies, cash prizes and certificates to the winners.
The Provincial Statistics Committee of Guimaras won the Best Provincial Statistics Committee. This is the second year that PSC Guimaras coveted the award that aims to recognize the active involvement of the provincial statistical committee in statistical policy making, programming and advocacy at the provincial level.
On the other hand, the University of the Philippines was declared as the Best NSM Agency, the highest recognition given to participating agencies or institutions.
Provincial Administrator Dr. Raul Banias, who represented Governor Arthur Defensor, and BSP Visayas Regional Office Regional Director Anna Clara Oville gave messages during the event attended by representatives of RSC 6 member agencies, local government units, private sector and faculty and students of various schools.
