CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — More than 100 family food packs were delivered to the residents in the municipality of Baco on Monday, February 10, who were affected by the heavy rains and strong winds from the shear line.
Per record of the municipality, a total of 436 families or 1,936 individuals in the town due to the heavy rains that resulted in flooding, submerging several areas in Baco, and prompting the local government to evacuate their residents since Saturday, February 8.
According to Public Information Officer Gina Macuha, the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office has been distributing relief assistance to affected families in the communities and to the residents housed in evacuation centers such as schools and churches.
Macuha added that repacking efforts continue to ensure more families receive aid.
“Hanggang ngayon patuloy ang pagre-repack dito para sa iba pang pamilyang apektado…sa ngayon ay tuloy-tuloy ang pag assist ng lokal na pamahalaan,” she said.

An aerial inspection revealed a significant damage to rice fields and fishponds across 24 barangays in the town.
The Office of the Municipal Agriculturist reported that the total agricultural and fisheries damage in Baco has exceeded ₱9 million.
