Residents in remote Apayao village benefit from local health care program

LUNA, Apayao (PIA) — More than a hundred residents of a far-flung barangay in the municipality of Luna benefitted from the health care program of the provincial government.

The Provincial Health Office (PHO) in collaboration with the Amma Jadsac District Hospital, brought free medical services to barangay Salvacion in an effort to bring access to healthcare services closer to the people, primarily to underserved members of the community.

The  provision of free medical services which benefitted at 120 residents, both young and old, is part of the Project BUTSY, a health care program of Governor Elias Bulut Jr. for all yApayaos, especially the underserved.

Among the free services provided include medical consultations, eye care, dental services, laboratory services, circumcision, and pharmacy services.

Project BUTSY which stands for “Bringing Universal healthcare services Towards a Sustainable program implementation Yielding to a resilient yApayao” aims to extend medical and health services to remote areas in the province .

Amma Jadsac District Chief of Hospital Dr. Mary Elisa Galleon thanked the provincial government for the project that brings healthcare services to the doorstep of the residents especially to remote areas, and for its  continuing support  and care to the yApayaos so that no one will be left behind.

According to the PHO headed by Dr. Mark Calban, the successful conduct of the program  is a result of the concerted efforts of PHO personnel and its partners serving the community. The  assistance provided by barangay health workers, personnel from rural health unit,  and professional health workers demonstrate their sincere care for the welfare of the people.

Through the leadership of Gov. Bulut and Congresswoman Eleanor Bulut-Begtang, health programs have been prioritized in the province as they believe that a healthy community can do more to aid the progress of their community members and the province. (RMC, PIA-CAR) (Apayao PIO photos)
