DAVAO CITY—Resorts and tourism establishments located in Davao City’s watershed areas are reminded to check on the land use plan of their locations.
This after the Local Government of Davao City demolished structures built by Camp Eleaga Spring Resort in Malabog, Davao City.
“For resorts and businesses, kindly check first the existing land use of your land in the City Planning Office before you build a certain development or construction, para hindi masayang whatever you build there (so whatever you build there will not go to waste)
He said that the resort had no necessary permits and documents for operating a business.
“Camp Eleaga has no business permit, it was not allowed to do business and one of the reasons it cannot secure a business permit, because it is a watershed area, it is a protected area,” says Davao City 2nd District Councilor Al Ryan Alejandre, who currently chairs the City Council Committee on Tourism.
On Feb. 20 the demolition team led by the City Engineer’s Office and secured by elements of the Davao City Police Office dismantled illegal structures such as the swimming pools and buildings straddling Lake Makaduhong, in Barangay Malabog.
Even if the place has a title it does not mean that you just put up a business, you should follow our ordinances,” Alejandre said.
He said that Lake Makaduhong is a water source and the construction of structures or any development is strictly not allowed. (PIA/RGA, photo by DCPO)
