ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) – The Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital (RMPH) Dialysis Clinic along Analdo Boulevard in Roxas City received three new dialysis machines from Rotary Club of Makati Gems and Rotary Club of Roxas.
Gov. Fredenil Castro led the unveiling and ceremonial turn-over of the new dialysis machines at the Capiz Provincial Capitol here.
“You did not just give us machines, instead you gave us life, because the moment that you are seated on the chair and undergo a dialysis procedure, you will stay there. That means the dialysis machine will be part of your life,” Castro noted.
The governor also expressed his gratitude to the Rotary Club because he previously wished to add just one dialysis machine to the provincial hospital. Now, they were granted with three machines.
RMPH Dialysis Clinic head Dr. Ma. Lourdes F. Pelobello said that from 12 dialysis machines, only seven are working.
“After the pandemic, after the machines working for 24 hours catering to COVID-19 patients, we are only left with seven working machines,” Pelobello said.
She also mentioned that the RMPH Dialysis Clinic opened in 2019 with each machine that can only be used for 30,000 hours, and the seven remaining machines have already spent half of their life span.
Further, RMPH Dialysis Nurse supervisor Joemar Dadivas noted that the RMPH Dialysis Clinic along Arnaldo Blvd. caters to 60 dialysis patients.
Dadivas added that besides the RMPH, the Capiz provincial government is also operating another dialysis center, “Gugma Para sa Capiz Dialysis Center,” at the Out-Patient Department of the RMPH in Brgy. Lanot, here.
“Aside from the Dialysis Clinic along Arnaldo Blvd., the Gugma Para sa Capiz Dialysis Center has 103 patients. Both clinics offer free dialysis, laboratories, and medicine as long as it is available in the hospital,” he added. (AGP/PLF/PIA Capiz)
