SURIGAO DEL SUR – During the 30th Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing Program (ROCBDCP), numerous barangays in Surigao del Sur were screened, vetted, and deliberated for their application for the retention of their drug-cleared status.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Director Charlene Magdurulang recently presided the conference with the Regional Oversight Committee (ROC) members from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Health (DOH), and City/Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) Focal person held at the PDEA Regional Office in Butuan City.
During the said activity, the committee members identified the following municipalities in Surigao del Sur be granted with extension of their application for the drug-cleared barangays until the 2nd Quarter of CY 2023.
1. Madrid
2. Cagwait
3. Marihatag
4. Bayabas
5. Carrascal
6. Tago
7. San Agustin
8. San Miguel
9. Hinatuan and
10. Lanuza
The 3rd quarter deliberation is scheduled for the Municipality of Carmen. Further, the committee granted the City of Tandag a separate schedule for a special deliberation on its application of the retention of the Drug Cleared Barangays on April 27, 2023.
Meanwhile, the municipalities of Barobo, Cortes, Bislig City, Tagbina, Lianga, Lingig, and Cantilan were given until April 8, 2023 by ROCBDC members to submit an explanation of their actions taken for persons who use drugs (PWUDs) under the Community Based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP).
