ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) — The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Romblon has approved an ordinance granting amnesty on penalties, surcharges, and interest due from all unpaid real property taxes in the province, including Special Education Taxes, idle land taxes, and other special levy taxes.
The tax amnesty takes effect on February 4 and will run until July 2026.
The initiative aims to provide financial relief to property owners, encouraging them to settle their tax obligations without incurring penalties or surcharges.
By implementing this amnesty program, the provincial government seeks to boost local revenue collection while assisting taxpayers who may have faced difficulties in meeting their tax responsibilities.
The ordinance aligns with Section 56 of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act 12001 or Real Property Valuation and Assessment Reform Act (RPVARA), which was signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and took effect on July 5, 2024.
Under RPVARA, local government units are authorized to issue ordinances that determine the means and methods of payment related to tax amnesty grants on penalties, surcharges, and interest for unpaid real property taxes incurred before the law’s enactment.
Clients who want to avail of this amnesty may visit the Provincial Treasurer’s Office and local government units. (PJF/PIA MIMAROPA-Romblon)
