ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) — Agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) from 11 agrarian reform beneficiary organizations (ARBOs) in Romblon participated in a comprehensive training on the Agricultural Insurance Program recently held at Harbour Chateau, Poctoy, Odiongan, Romblon.
The activity aimed to help sustain and protect their crops against various risks.
OIC-Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Camilo Claro M. Pacquing emphasized the importance of the training, stating that the knowledge gained will be crucial in safeguarding the crops of the ARBs.
“Together, we are making strides towards a more sustainable and secure future for our ARBs and ARBOs,” he said.
Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) provincial coordinator John David Ang encouraged ARBs to register with the RSBSA, a database system implemented by the Department of Agriculture (DA). Registration allows farmers, fishermen, and those in agri-fishery services to access various government assistance programs.
By registering, ARBs can benefit from the assistance provided by the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) and the Rice Competitive Enhancement Fund (RCEF).
Emmylou Pascual and Rose Bell Carasco of PCIC highlighted the insurance coverage available to farmers, which includes protection against crop damage caused by diseases, pests, and natural calamities such as typhoons, floods, droughts, and climate change. The insurance also covers the lives of insured farmers and their families.
PCIC has partnered with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) to provide P17.1 billion worth of crop insurance protection to ARBs over the next two cropping seasons. (PR/PJF/PIA MIMAROPA-Romblon)
