ILOILO CITY (PIA) – – The Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) in Western Visayas is enjoining all sectors to actively participate in and support the forthcoming 35th National Statistics Month (NSM) in October as various activities were already lined up to highlight the celebration in the region.
Jenelyn Hisuan of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Regional Statistical Services Office (RSSO) and Secretariat for the 35th NSM, presented the Memorandum Circular No. 2024 – 12 that enjoins the support and active participation of government agencies, local government units, academic institutions, state universities and colleges and the private sector to the annual nationwide celebration during the first General Assembly Meeting (GAM) of the members of the RSC 6 on Aug. 13.
MC No. 2024-12 which was signed by National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Secretary Arsenio Balisacan on April 22, 2024 states that the RSC was designated as the coordinating body for all NSM activities for the regional celebration. The PSA-RSSO shall provide technical and administrative support to their respective RSCs.
This year’s celebration theme “Advancing Data and Statistics Through Digital Transformation: A Road to an Empowered Nation” underscores the efforts in modernizing the statistical system through the adoption of digital tools and platforms to improve the accuracy, timeliness and accessibility of statistics. Ultimately, empowering decision- and policy-makers, and other stakeholders with valuable insights for informed decision-making and policy formulation which are geared towards national economic and social development.
The regional celebration will be formally opened on October 1 and will be followed by the conduct of the various activities and tilts until October 25, the closing ceremony.
Some of these contests include Statistical Infographics; Photography; E-Poster; Statistiktok; Statistics Quiz and Western Visayas High School Statistics Quiz.
There will also be health and wellness and tree planting activities and Statistical Capability Building.
