RTWPB-10 equips personnel with newswriting, communication skills

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) — To enhance the personnel’s technical knowledge and skills in newswriting and content creation, the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB)-10, in partnership with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-10, conducted a training workshop on July 3–4, here.

The training covered basic news writing skills to help personnel become better communicators and equip them to effectively share accomplishments, programs, and activities with the public.

Effective communication and newswriting are crucial to our information and advocacy program at the RTWPB. This training will provide us with valuable knowledge and skills to improve our good news articles, press releases, and social media posts,” said Lawyer Ma. Vergel Walag, RTWPB board secretary.

During the training, Recthie Paculba from PIA-10 taught the basics of journalistic writing, including structuring news stories, creating compelling leads, and ensuring accuracy. Participants also practiced their writing skills through workshops and hands-on exercises.

Dako kayo ni og tabang nako ug makasulod man gani ko og trabaho sa gobyerno puhon. Nadungagan ang akong kahibalo sa
newswriting,” said Aljun Illana, RTWPB-10 intern.

(It was really a big help for me, especially if I can get a job in government in the future. My knowledge of newswriting has improved.)

The PIA, as the government’s primary information arm, regularly conducts capacity-building activities for its partner agencies and local government units to strengthen their communication capabilities and improve public awareness of their services and initiatives. (RTWPB-10/PIA-10)
