SAAD projects boost livelihood and cooperation among farmers and fisherfolk in Abra town

Farmers and fisherfolk in Barangays Supiil and Baug in San Juan, Abra receive table egg production projects under the Special Area fro Agricultural Development recently.

SAN JUAN, Abra (PIA) – Around 60 farmers and fisherfolk in San Juan, Abra get a boost in their income and cooperation with table egg production projects worth P899,690 each from the government.

The Supiil Multi-Crop Farmers Association (SMCFA) in Barangay Supiil and the Rimat Farmers and Fisherfolks Association (RFFA) in Barangay Baug each received a housing unit,100 heads of chicken layers, and feeds under the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Phase II of the Department of Agriculture (DA).

During the turnover ceremony on February 12, SMCFA President Arlene Balneg and RFFA President Bonifacio Beroña assured their commitment and cooperation for the success of the projects.

“In-inot nga naawatan mi ti gagem daytoy nga proyekto, saan laeng nga nu tapno adanto kwarta mi ngem kangrunaan ti pannakamuli ken pannakapabiag manen ti taginawa wenno panagtitinnulong, panagsisinaranay dagiti agkakaruba,” Balneg expressed.

“Agyaman kami kadagitoy nga projects nga naited kanyami. Aywanan mi dagitoy tapno kasta ket magun-od mi didiay arapaap mi nga dumakel,” Beroña added.

Aside from the livelihood assistance, trainings and workshops are also in line for the beneficiaries to develop skills to better manage the SAAD projects.

Meanwhile, Vice-Mayor Ari Lucas Bautista ensured the continuous support from the local government through the Municipal Agriculture Office and other agencies.

Similar projects were and will be turned-over to other farmers’ associations in the different municipalities in the province.
