San Antonio LGU conducts gift giving program to Quezon District Jail PDLs

PAGBILAO, Quezon (PIA)— Thirty persons deprived of liberty (PDL) from the BJMP Quezon District Jail were visited by officials from the local government unit (LGU) of San Antonio, Quezon headed by the Municipal Administrator, Marie Grace Wagan and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Geneve Gonzales last January 27, 2023.

Gifts consisting of toiletries, along with food packs and cash assistance for each one were handed to the PDL residents of the the said municipality. Dancing and singing ensued during the turn-over program, including a dance number from the jail residents themselves.

Assistant Warden, Jail Insp. Nelson B. Sardea, Jr. acknowledged in his message the concerted efforts of the benefactors in raising the plight of the PDLs and also expressed his gratitude towards the agencies and people who made, not just the gift-giving but also other programs.

“Thank you partners for your gift of time and resources with our jail community, what a great way to bring people together, to serve and share blessings, and to give hope to these people,” said Sardea.

Jail Officer 2 Joefrie B. Anglo said the motive of the program is to strengthen positive relationship between the local government and the jail community, and to be persistent in extending assistance through the simple gifts offered.

It also ensures that jail residents get the basic nutrition necessary for good health, maintain proper hygiene and help support basic services with the help from authorities and other stakeholders. (RMO/PIA Quezon with reports from BJMP-Quezon)
