SANTA CRUZ, Laguna (PIA) – The city government of San Pedro on Monday, September 2 raised the Charlie Protocol or Red Alert status throughout the city as Tropical Depression Enteng brought strong to torrential monsoon rains beginning Sunday.
San Pedro City mayor Art Mercado said that the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) regularly conducts meetings to ensure appropriate response are being implemented.
“We are currently conducting emergency meetings led by the San Pedro CDRRM Council Response Cluster and Incident Management Team. The rescue and evacuation response is still ongoing in the affected areas,” Mercado said in a Facebook post.

The city government likewise prohibited all activities in all bodies of water within the City of San Pedro, including the Laguna Lake and its tributaries to ensure the public’s welfare and safety.
This includes swimming/bathing; picnic and other gatherings; throwing of garbage/waste; washing of clothes, motorized vehicles, agricultural equipment, home and business paraphernalia, and other similar devices; pasture of animals; dynamite fishing including the use of electrically charged wire or similar contraption that demobilize or kill fish; construction of huts/tents and other similar structures; and boating/fishing.
Face-to-face classes in all levels and government work were suspended in San Pedro on Monday. Classes will continue to be held via modular or asynchronous mode of learning until September 4, Wednesday, the city mayor announced. (CH/PIA-Laguna)
