San Teodoro LGU conducts feeding and outreach programs for Iraya Mangyans

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — More tha 60 individuals benefited from the feeding and outreach programs of the municipal government of San Teodoro.

The activity held April 22 at Sitio Millsite, Brgy. Calangatan catered mostly those belonging to Iraya Mangyan tribe of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

The activities aimed to bring joy and inspiration to children and families, especially to the Indigenous Peoples (IP)–Iraya Mangyans who are beyond the reach of the programs and services of the government.

Sitio Millsite could be reached for almost two hours of travel just to bring beneficiaries with food, clothes, shoes, and donated toys from the local government.

With the employees of the local government, the Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) of Calangatan did the weighing of IP children for them to be given the appropriate intervention, particularly those who are undernourished.

Likewise, IP parents were taught about the proper way of bringing up and caring for their children and most especially giving them knowledge about family planning.

The activities were facilitated by the Office of the Municipal Mayor, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), San Teodoro Tau Gamma Phi., and other 4Ps beneficiaries from the barangays of Poblacion, Tacligan, and Calangatan.
