MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) — The local government of Sapang Dalaga, Misamis Occidental, demonstrated exceptional commitment and effectiveness in governance as an awardee of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) in 2024, the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) most prestigious award.
“As the municipal mayor, my leadership has consistently focused on fostering an environment of integrity, efficiency, and accountability within the local government,” Mayor Donjie Animas said.
Through its delivery of high standards in various governance areas, such as financial administration and sustainability, disaster preparedness, social protection and sensitivity, health compliance and responsiveness, education, business friendliness and competitiveness, safety, peace, and order, environmental management, tourism, heritage development, culture and arts, and youth development, the municipality attained the 2023 SGLG.
“Our success in achieving a perfect score in all ten governance areas underscores our commitment to upholding the principles of good governance and delivering quality public service to our constituents,” the mayor said.
The positive outcomes reflected in the 2023 SGLG results are a direct consequence of the local government’s collective efforts, including the hard work of its dedicated LGU personnel and the collaboration with the community.
DILG Provincial Director Pablio L. Benitez, Jr. noted that five Misamis Occidental LGUs successfully obtained the Seal in 2023.
“It is our hope that for 2024, all our nine potential passers will join this year’s roster of SGLG conferees. Nonetheless, DILG MisOcc remains united with our LGUs in upholding good local governance, which we celebrate in the SGLG,” he said.
The SGLG recognizes LGUs that exhibit exemplary and innovative local governance practices, aiming to instill the principles of good governance while acknowledging those that continuously strive to enhance the services they provide to their constituents.
