QUEZON CITY (PIA) — The Commission on Elections has reminded the public of the Sept. 30 deadline for the voters’ registration, amid the continued surge in the number of voter applications.
The poll body advised aspiring voters not to wait for the last day, saying that Sept. 30 is a “hard deadline.”
Comelec spokesman John Rex Laudiangco said in mid-August that the poll body expects a surge of new voters to apply in the last remaining days of voter registration.
He clarified that the Commission is no longer extending the voter registration deadline for locals and Filipinos abroad because of the Oct. 1 start of the period of filing of certificates of candidacy for the 2025 midterm elections.
Since the voter registration resumption in February, the Comelec has already processed a total of 6,250,050 applications.
Of the total number, more than 2.6 million are new voters.
He also said deactivated voters who want to reactivate their status may do so online through Comelec’s official website until Sept. 25. They may also visit the nearest Comelec office to file their application.
Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are also reminded to register and participate in the forthcoming national and local elections. (PIA-DMD)
