SGLG national validation underway in Iloilo

ILOILO CITY (PIA) — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has started the national validation for the 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) in the province of Iloilo.

There are 19 local government units in the province that will undergo the national validation aiming to get the SGLG Seal this year, a DILG – Iloilo Facebook post showed.

The national validators from DILG Region 2 have already assessed the performance of the 12 municipalities across the ten governance areas of SGLG through document review, onsite inspection and interview with LGU functionaries and stakeholders on September 3 to 5, 2024.

These twelve municipalities include New Lucena, Lambunao, Mina, Maasin, Alimodian, Cabatuan, Tubungan, Tigbauan Oton, Zarraga, Pototan, and Banate.

Validations for the municipalities of Leganes and San Enrique are set in the second week of September.

On the other hand, the new guidelines exempted the Province of Iloilo, City of Passi and the municipalities of Anilao, Bingawan, and Concepcion from the onsite validation being consistent passers of the 2022 and 2023 SGLG.

In full support of this initiative are DILG Iloilo Provincial Director Carmelo F. Orbista, cluster heads and the provincial office personnel who joined and assisted the assessment teams.

Now, in its tenth year, SGLG is an institutionalized award, incentive, honor and recognition-based program of DILG for exemplary local government units. (AAL/LAF/PIA6-Iloilo)
