Short of blood, PRC calls on Masbate donors

MASBATE CITY (PIA) — The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) in Masbate is urging healthy individuals to donate blood to help save lives.

PRC Masbate Chapter Administrator Marie Jane Oxemer issued this call on Thursday, January 16, as the province’s blood supply has reached a “critical level.”

“We have patients in need of blood, but we currently do not have any blood units available,” Oxemer said in a group chat with the Masbate City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

Oxemer said blood donors may walk into the PRC office at the Masbate Social Center tomorrow, January 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Blood donations are voluntary and can include replacement donations from healthy relatives or friends of a patient.

“Your help means a lot for patients who need lifesaving blood,” Oxemer said. (PIA5/Masbate)
