Throughout the period of April to June in 2023, there is an expectation of a marginal reduction in nationwide rice production.

The estimated yield for this period is predicted to be 4.27 million metric tons, slightly below the target of 4.28 million metric tons.

This forecast is established upon the most current data available for the country. As of June 1, 2023, the recorded data indicates that approximately 840,510 hectares of rice fields have been harvested.

This accounts for 87.4 percent of the total expanse of 961,140 hectares dedicated to rice cultivation across the nation. The aggregate harvest from these cultivated lands amounts to 3.76 metric tons of rice per hectare.

Within the remaining extent of 120,630 hectares of paddy fields that have not undergone harvesting during the aforementioned time frame, an overwhelming 96.9 percent of these fields are in the stage of maturation. (PIA-NCR)
