TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) – -The newly installed Solana-Tuguegarao steel bridge is now open to the public, providing a vital link for commuters traveling between the eastern and western sides of the Cagayan River.
The temporary bridge is expected to alleviate traffic congestion at the Buntun Bridge, especially during peak hours.
Representative Joseph Lara of the 3rd Congressional District of Cagayan said that the physical infrastructure, a steel bridge, will offer opportunities not only for Solana town but also for Tuguearao City and all Cagayanos who cross this bridge.
Lara made this statement in support of all sectors; it will bring closer to the schools, major hospitals, and workers from Centro Solana, Enrile, and other eastern towns of Cagayan closer to their places of employment.
“It used to be that when there was no bridge, it would take 13 kilometers or approximately 2.5 hours to travel due to traffic from Calamagui, Solana town, to Tuguegarao City passing through the Buntun Bridge. With the opening of this steel bridge, it takes only eight to ten minutes to go to SM City Tuguegarao at Bagay Road,” Lara said.
He said that the completion of Solana-Tuguegarao Bridge will greatly benefit future generations and streamline the service delivery of each national government agency.
“I have been in the construction industry for almost 25 years, and the bridge design of Department of Public Works and Highways only allows a crane to use the platform. Therefore, I requested DPWH to arrange all the posts first and arrange the platform for temporary use by light vehicles,” Lara said.
“Just as I did with the Amulung Bridge, we will open steel bridges along Enrile leading to Gosi in Tuguegarao City next year and the Itawes Bridge in Tuao,” he added.
He also expressed their gratitude to those who supported and trusted them, stating that in return, they bring hope to the future of every Cagayano by building more infrastructure and bridges in the 3rd congressional district of Cagayan. (OTB/ADS/PIA Region 2)
