SONA 2023 recognizes smooth, progressive transition of BARMM

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)–Amidst numerous priorities and significant concerns necessary to be presented, the second State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. held Monday, July 24 this year, did not fail to acknowledge the advancement made by the transitioning Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

“We are proud of the progress that the BARMM has taken. It will be self-governing, progressive, and effective,” he said during his public speech at the Batasang Pambansa.

President Marcos stated that this could be attributed to the cooperation of all key groups who whole-heartedly engaged in their one aim.

In pursuit of witnessing a smooth transition phase for BARMM, he said they talked with the local governments and consulted the royal families, Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), and Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

With this, the international community has also poured out their respective support.

With all the efforts combined, President Marcos was happy to pronounce that former adversaries are now partners in peace, especially since functions have been defined and basic laws are already being written.

He stressed that through the BARMM, they would keep backing the region’s thrust for them to strengthen the nation’s prospects and finally achieve sustainable progress anchored on true and lasting peace in the southern Philippines.

“We will continue to support the progress of the BARMM pace with our singular vision for all Filipinos,” said President Marcos. (CRG/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
