KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato (PIA) — The Social Security System (SSS) is strengthening its support for self-employed individuals, land-based overseas Filipino workers (OFW), and voluntary members through the Contribution Subsidy Provider Program (CSPP).
The initiative is designed to ease the burden of maintaining monthly contributions for those with less stable incomes.
SSS Mindanao South II Division Communications Officer Noel Nacion highlighted CSPP implementation in Region 12, as he stressed its importance in empowering marginalized individuals.
He noted that more than 100 members of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) in Koronadal City have received contribution subsidies from their company, acting as their contribution subsidy provider.
Under the CSPP, a contribution subsidy provider takes on the responsibility of paying the SSS contributions for eligible members for a minimum of six consecutive months.
This enables beneficiaries to sustain their SSS membership and gain access to critical social security benefits such as sickness, maternity, disability, and retirement.
Contribution subsidy providers can be private companies, government agencies, non-government organizations, or even individual philanthropists.
By shouldering contributions, these providers help secure the financial stability of workers in the informal sector or those who have lost their jobs.
Eligible contribution subsidy recipients include self-employed workers, land-based OFWs, and voluntary members.
Meanwhile, the SSS Mindanao South II Division also lauded a barangay captain in the municipality of M’lang for participating in the CSPP by personally shouldering the contributions of Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPATS) members in his area.
The CSPP also aims to address social security gaps by supporting members who face challenges in maintaining their SSS contributions by involving both public and private sectors as subsidy providers.
“A government office, individual, or anyone can subsidize the contributions of other members who are not their employees,” Nacion emphasized. (SZT, PIA Region 12)
