ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) – The Social Security System (SSS) Visayas West 2 Division continues to crack down on delinquent contribution evaders in Roxas City.
During its recent Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign in Roxas City, the SSS Visayas West 2 and SSS Roxas City branch issued notice of violations to six delinquent employers in the city, with more than P6-million in unpaid contributions.
SSS Commissioner Jose Julio led the RACE in Roxas City to observe and ensure that the local SSS branch is reminding employers to pay their SSS contributions regularly.
Subjects to the recent RACE operation include medical service providers, restaurants, a cable TV provider, and a retail shop, affecting at least 509 employees whose contributions are at stake.
Moreover, an employee of a medical service provider said that it was favorable for them that the SSS employees are visiting, as they are currently planning to avail themselves of the agency’s installment payment scheme.
Visayas West 2 Division information officer Amiel Genova said that the monthly RACE operation aims to remind employees and employers in the province that SSS is serious about imposing the employers’ obligation.
He also mentioned that aside from issuing the notice of violations, the visits provide an opportunity to hear employers’ sentiments on why they are having contribution problems and how to assist them.
Genova reminded the public that once an employer starts a business with even one employee, it should be reported and registered with the SSS to avoid future complaints.
“Based on our experience, paying the contribution benefits of the employees to the SSS and other government agencies is a morale booster to the employee and helps build their loyalty to their employers because they feel secure in their jobs,” Genova added. (EAD-PLF/PIA Capiz)
