SSS ensures social protection thru RACE activity in three Abra towns

Personnel from the Social Security System (SSS) Bangued Branch led by branch manager Edward Urua and Luzon North Division1 legal counselor Atty. Warden Domingo, visit employers in Dolores, Lagangilang, and San Juan to ensure social protection coverage among their employees.

BANGUED, Abra (PIA) – The Social Security System (SSS)-Bangued Branch continues to ensure social protection especially among employees of business establishments in the province.

SSS personnel led by Bangued Branch Manager Edward Urua and Luzon North Division 1 legal counselor Atty. Warden Domingo, visited local businesses with delinquencies or those who failed to pay the contributions for their employees, and those that are identified as non-registrants during its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign in Dolores, Lagangilang, and San Juan.

The establishments are given a 15-day grace period to settle their delinquencies either through installment payments or the Contribution Penalty Condonation, Delinquency Management, and Restructuring Program. Under this program, the SSS provides assistance to business employers by allowing them to pay unremitted contributions while taking into consideration their accrued penalties.

Urua said that the SSS emphasizes the importance of social security coverage for all employees.

“This program provides essential benefits such as sickness, maternity, disability, retirement, and death benefits. By enforcing compliance, the SSS aims to protect the welfare of employees and ensure their financial security in times of need,” he shared.

The SSS encourages all establishments to prioritize the well-being of their employees by ensuring their timely payment of SSS contributions.

SSS conducts monthly RACE activities to address the issue of non-compliance and promote a culture of social responsibility among employers. (JJPM-PIA CAR, Abra with Rachelle Joy Alvis, PIA GIP)
