IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay (PIA) – The Social Security System (SSS) Ipil Branch is aiming to collect nearly P48 million worth of unremitted contributions and penalties from two delinquent rubber-based cooperatives in Naga town, this province, following a recent Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) operation.

The unpaid contributions involved 425 cooperative members whose monthly SSS payments were not properly remitted, in violation of Republic Act No. 11199, also known as the Social Security Act of 2018.

This law mandates all private sector employers to register their employees with the SSS and regularly remit their contributions. Failure to do so may result in penalties and legal action.

SSS Ipil Branch Head Marnelli T. Pastorfide said written notices were served to the concerned cooperatives, directing them to settle their delinquencies within 15 days or face legal consequences.

As enforcers of the Social Security Law, we ensure that employers are reminded of their obligations to the SSS,” Pastorfide said.

“The RACE Campaign is our way of calling out erring employers and encouraging immediate action,”she added.

The RACE campaign is a nationwide campaign by the SSS to enforce compliance among employers who fail to remit their employees’contributions. It aims to protect workers’ rights to social security coverage by ensuring that contributions are properly remitted and benefits remain accessible to members.

Pastorfide also shared that to help ease the burden on employers with unsettled dues, the SSS is offering a Contribution Penalty Condonation Program. This program gives delinquent employers the opportunity to settle their unpaid contributions through flexible payment terms and penalty waivers, depending on their circumstances .

Pastorfide emphasized the importance of the program, saying, “this is meant to help employers settle their back payments while protecting the social security rights of their workers.” (EDT/JPA/PIA9-Zamboanga Sibugay)
