PAGADIAN CITY, (PIA) – The Social Security System (SSS) branch in Pagadian City conducted a two-day “Run Against Contribution Evaders” (RACE) campaign urging employers to register their businesses and promptly remit their employees’ contributions.
The RACE campaign targeted delinquent company owners who were reminded of the legal consequences of non-compliance and seeking to safeguard the financial well-being of employees in the city.
During the campaign, an SSS Pagadian team served show-cause orders against 20 establishments that failed to comply with their SSS obligations. They were given15-days to correct their delinquencies.
If an employer persists in non-compliance, the SSS will issue a demand letter, which may subsequently result in the filing of appropriate cases in court.
Severo Corpuz Jr., Officer-in-Charge (OIC) – branch head of SSS Pagadian, highlighted the significance of the RACE campaign. “This Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) is a regular activity conducted by SSS to target delinquent, non-registered, and non-compliant employers. The main objective is to instill awareness,” he emphasized.
“Regardless of how small or big, the purpose is to offer them programs that will make it easier for them to pay. The RACE program reminds employers of their legal responsibility to their employees and urges them to avoid penalties,” he added.
SSS Pagadian revealed that a total of 104 employees from the 20 businesses visited are affected by the delinquency. The substantial sum of P710,141.48 underscores the seriousness of the matter, prompting SSS Pagadian to take swift action to protect the rights and financial well-being of workers in the city.
The RACE campaign demonstrates SSS Pagadian’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that businesses contribute to the welfare of their employees through timely and accurate remittance of SSS contributions. It also highlights their determination to pursue those evading their social responsibility. (NBE/HTB/PIA9-Zamboanga del Sur)
