MALOLOS CITY (PIA) — The Social Security System (SSS) issued show cause orders to a total of 13 delinquent employers in Bulacan after they failed to register and remit the contributions of their employees.
SSS Vice President for Luzon Central 2 Division Gloria Corazon Andrada personally handed show cause orders to five employers in the City of San Jose del Monte who failed to remit the Social Security and Employees Compensation contributions of 32 employees, amounting to P2.3 million, inclusive of accrued penalties.
Meanwhile, one company failed to register the business and reported its more than 10 employees.
In the municipality of Bocaue, seven delinquent employers were also given show cause orders for non-remittance of contributions and penalties amounting to about P674,000.
Andrada said they will be given 15 days to explain why no legal action should be taken against them.
“To avoid legal actions, they are advised to visit the SSS branch to submit supporting documents and avail of our condonation program for delinquency settlement. Otherwise, SSS will use the full force of the law to have them prosecuted,” she warned.
Employers are mandated by Republic Act 11199 , otherwise known as the Social Security Act of 2018, to report employees through their My.SSS accounts within 30 days from hire date, regardless of employment status.
Aside from that, businesses operating with even a single employee should register with SSS and properly remit contributions.
Andrada emphasized that newly hired and separated employees should be reported immediately through the My.SSS Employer Account to maintain true and accurate records.
Noemi Sillano, a pensioner from Guiginto, said she supports the Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign as it would ensure the stability of the state firm in providing benefits to members.
“My children, who are Overseas Filipino Workers, have someone to count on when the time comes when they retire and become pensioners,” Sillano added.
Employers proven guilty of violating Republic Act 11199 will face six to 12 years of imprisonment, and pay penalties ranging from P5,000 to P20,000. (CLJD/VFC, PIA Region 3-Bulacan)
