SSS OccMin conducts RACE drive in San Jose

SAN JOSE, Occidental Mindoro (PIA) — The Social Security System (SSS) Occidental Mimdoro branch joined in the conduct of simultaneous Race After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign nationwide in line with celebration for the Labor Day.

The SSS RACE team went to 10 employers in San Jose to remind them of their obligations under Republic Act 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018, which includes remitting their counterpart for their employees’ SSS contribution.

During the visit, some employers reported hat there were changes in their work force during the pandemic period, which affected their ability to pay.

John Michael Gayo of SSS OccMin explained that when employers fail to do their SSS responsibilities for their employees, the employees will not be able to avail their SSS benefits.

Show cause order was given to the employers which must be settled within 15 days upon receiving the document.

Also, SSS Branch Head Joey G. Monte de Ramos and CEO II Esmeralda S. Madriaga informed the employers that SSS offers programs such as condonation and reconstruction programs, to provide a more flexible and lighter way for them to settle their delinquency.

As of date, four employers have reported to SSS as a response to the show cause order.

Monte de Ramos reported that their office noted a P2 million increase in delinquency collection in the 1st quarter of 2023 versus the previous year.

He attributed the increase to the conduct of the first RACE campaign in the municipality in 2022. (DSG/PIA Occidental Mindoro)
