BANGUED, Abra (PIA) — A total of 40 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the Abra Provincial Jail in Calaba, Bangued benefited from the services of the ‘SSS on Wheels’ program of Social Security System (SSS)-Bangued Branch.
SSS-Bangued Senior Account Specialist Daisy Mae B. Cariño shared that the primary objective of the program is to orient PDLs about the benefits offered by the SSS. The activity also serves as a venue to facilitate the onsite registration of SSS numbers for the beneficiaries.
“Some of them have existing SSS numbers already hence, their records were subject to updating. The SSS numbers initially applied by the other PDLs on May 20, 2024 have also been distributed to the applicants. They were informed that their SSS numbers are ready for contribution payment,” she added.
During the activity, a total of 25 PDLs successfully completed the application process and obtained their SSS numbers, while those who already held their SSS numbers underwent necessary updates to their information.
With membership in the SSS, individuals can avail of essential social security benefits, such as sickness, maternal care, death benefits, disability support, and various types of loans including calamity and pension loans.
The outreach activity is part of the commitment of SSS to extend services to marginalized communities, ensuring that all members of society, including those in correctional facilities, have equal opportunities to avail themselves of essential social security benefits and assistance.
