SSS reminds biz owners in Abra towns of obligations to employees

BANGUED, Abra (PIA) – Ten business owners in the towns of Bangued and Pidigan were served notices and show cause orders from the Social Security System (SSS) in its first ‘Run Against Contribution Evaders’ (RACE) activity for 2025.

SSS-Bangued Branch Junior Account Specialist Daisy Mae B. Cariño said that the first RACE activity was conducted successfully on February 27.

SSS personnel were able to serve violation notices and show cause orders to five establishments in Bangued for non-production of records and another five businesses in Pidigan for non-registration and non-reporting of employees.

“Through this activity, we are strengthening our commitment to uphold worker’s rights to social security protection and strict implementation of RA 11199 in the province,” she stressed.

Cariño added that based on their monitoring, 50 percent of the employers subjected to the RACE activity have already complied

The RACE is a program of the SSS to ensure that employers of different business establishments comply with social security laws. This also protects employees by making sure that they receive their rightful benefits.

SSS is a government-owned and controlled corporation that offers social protection coverage to workers in the private sector. It provides its members financial benefits in times of death, disability, sickness, maternity and old age. (JJMT, PIA-CAR, Abra)
