SSS strengthens employer compliance thru RACE operations in Tawi-Tawi

ZAMBOANGA CITY (PIA) – The Social Security System (SSS) continues its mission of promoting workers’ welfare in Tawi-Tawi province, conducting Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) operations in Bongao and Sanga-Sanga to ensure employers comply with the Social Security Act of 2018 (Republic Act No. 11199).

During the recent operations, the RACE Team, composed of SSS lawyers and accounts officers, served written notices to 12 business establishments for failing to remit employees’ monthly contributions, amounting to Php2.99 million. These contributions represent a critical aspect of social protection for workers, ensuring their access to benefits such as sickness, maternity, and retirement assistance.

To complement these enforcement measures, SSS Tawi-Tawi simultaneously held an orientation for 30 employers and representatives, focusing on the My.SSS portal. This online platform streamlines SSS transactions, offering a convenient way for employers to manage contributions and comply with regulations. By promoting the portal, SSS aims to build a culture of compliance while empowering employers with modern tools for seamless transactions.

The RACE operations reflect SSS’ developmental approach to address contribution evasion while fostering partnerships with employers. From January to September 2024, SSS collected P105,860.71 through these initiatives in Tawi-Tawi, demonstrating the effectiveness of combining enforcement with education and digital innovation.

SSS emphasized the importance of adhering to the law, reiterating that remitting contributions is not only a legal obligation but a cornerstone of social protection for the province’s workforce. The agency continues to work toward inclusive development by safeguarding the rights of employees and supporting businesses in compliance.
