SSS urges Antiqueños to take advantage of savings, pension booster

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) — Social Security System (SSS) President and Chief Executive Officer Rolando Ledesma Macasaet encouraged everyone to take advantage of the SSS savings program and allow their money to earn a higher return yearly.

In his visit to Antique on July 9, SSS conducted a media briefing and stakeholders’ consultation at Eagle’s Hotel, San Jose de Buenavista, Antique.

Macasaet, in a media interaction, emphasized the MySSS pension booster program as a retirement fund and savings that can provide the projected annual return rate of 7.2 percent.

He then encouraged young professionals, Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), self-employed and corporate executives, to invest early so they would have enough time to grow their savings and retirement funds.

In addition, SSS also cited the growing AlkanSSSya program which has shifted from physical saving boxes to digital wallets meant to serve small-income earners by allowing them to save daily until it reaches the required monthly contribution.

The AlkanSSSya program of SSS provides affordable social insurance for everyone allowing them to access affordable social protection.

Executive Vice President for SSS branch operations sector Voltaire Agas shared the recent engagement of SSS with the Department of Social Welfare and Development Western Visayas on the plan to enroll the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in the AlkanSSSya.

To provide more access to the programs and services of SSS, Macasaet and other top officials of SSS engaged in an agreement with local cooperatives- the Belison and Hamtic Multi-Purpose Cooperatives as receiving centers of payments of contributions of members.

Susie Nermal, Chairperson of Belison Multi-purpose Cooperative, lauded this initiative engaging them into a memorandum of agreement and authorizing them to receive contributions and payments not only for the cooperative members but other non-members, as well.

“With this agreement, remitting contributions or paying the dues to SSS would be accessible to the grassroots,” said Nermal.

Present during the signing ceremony were Elvira Alcantara-Resare, Ernesto Francisco Jr., Bernardo Dofitas, Jr., Helen C. Solito, and other top officials of SSS in the Visayas and the central office. (AGP/PSM/PIA Antique)
