VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur (PIA) – The Social Security System (SSS)-Vigan Branch expressed its gratitude to local media outlets and state media for their crucial role in promoting employee welfare.
During a media appreciation event held at their office in Barangay Tamag on December 19, the branch awarded certificates to Core FM, DWRS Commando Radio, and the Philippine Information Agency-Ilocos Sur Information Center.
Cecille Sally, branch head of SSS-Vigan, emphasized the significance of this inaugural event in the province, highlighting the media’s invaluable contribution to disseminating vital information about SSS programs.
“Thank you very much for gracing this occasion. We would like to personally thank you, on behalf of SSS, for supporting our programs, particularly for joining us in the Run Against Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign,” she said.
The RACE campaign is a monthly activity of the SSS to urge non-compliant employers to comply with their obligations to their employees.
“We hope you can still join us next year to support us in making the public aware of our programs, campaigns, and services,” Sally said.
Gilbert Gonzales, station manager of Core FM, expressed his gratitude to the SSS for this recognition.
He said, “Just continue informing us of your activities so we can inform our listeners as well because, as the media, it is our duty to disseminate important information.”
Sally meanwhile reminded the SSS members, especially the employers, to comply with the SSS law and to get clearance from them for their business permits during the renewal in January.
“Also for the surviving spouses, they need to comply early to prevent their pension from being discontinued,” Sally urged.
The SSS is open from Mondays to Fridays, except on holidays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to serve clients, employees, and employers who may need assistance with their concerns. (AMB/ATV, PIA Ilocos Sur)
