TUBOD, Lanao del Norte (PIA) — A total of 281 families affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (STS Kristine) and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) received financial assistance.
The initiative, spearheaded by the provincial government through its Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), aimed to support families from 10 municipalities that were impacted by the recent weather disturbances, namely, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Sapad, Baroy, Kauswagan, Bacolod, Maigo, Kapatagan, Lala, Matungao, and Kolambugan.
In total, 261 families whose homes were partially damaged received P3,000 in assistance, while 20 families whose homes were totally damaged received P20,000.
During the distribution, Gov. Imelda “Angging” Quibranza Dimaporo addressed the recipients and expressed her concern for the long-term environmental consequences of human actions.
“Hinaot pa nga kaning ginagmay nga atong ihatag kaninyo, makatabang kini sa inyong mga gamit nga nawala ug ipalit sa inyong mga panginahanglanon,” she said.

The financial assistance is part of the provincial government’s continuous efforts to support and alleviate the burdens of families affected by recent natural disasters.
In addition to financial aid, the provincial government distributed 10 kilos of rice, a portable water container, a bucket, and a storage box to the families whose homes were totally damaged. The provincial government also emphasized the importance of disaster preparedness and environmental protection, as it supports communities in their recovery and resilience-building efforts.
