Tabuk study-team visits Cauayan City for its smart city plan

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) –A study team from Tabuk City government recently visited Cauayan City in Isabela province to benchmark for its ‘smart city’ plan.

Cauayan City, the first rural and agricultural city in the country to become a smart city, is chosen as model by Tabuk in its smart city plan.

During the study-visit, the team was introduced to the Cauayan App Connect which provides easier online processing of LGU transactions.

The group observed Cauayan City’s eased local government operation through well-placed smart system or online processing.  Likewise, they witnesses the  smart traffic management and other technological systems like carbon-reducing solar panel energy source, electric vehicle charging stations and practices aerial agricultural analysis and spraying with drones.

Disaster monitoring and response action has also become immediate through advanced software system.

The study-team is composed of the City Public Information Office, City Information and Communications Technology, Office of the City Agricultural Services, Kalinga State University, Department of Science and Technology, Dept. of Trade and Industry and Dept. of Environment and Natural Resources.

City Mayor Darwin C. Estranero said Tabuk’s plan to become a ‘smart city’ aims to provide easier and immediate government action “to improve the quality of life of Tabukeños and make the city more sustainable and livable through cutting-edge technology and data-driven decision making.”

The study-team was composed of the City Public Information Office, City Information and Communications Technology, Office of the City Agricultural Services, Kalinga State University, Department of Science and Technology, Dept. of Trade and Industry and Dept. of Environment and Natural Resources-Kalinga.
