TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA)— Tagbilaran City has partnered with digital payment platform, Gcash, for its Citizen ID Card in line with the city government’s campaign for accessibility and financial inclusivity.
The Gcash-enabled Citizen ID Cards are embedded with Europay, Mastercard and Visa microchip and will be issued to senior citizens, solo parents, and persons with disabilities in the city.
By using the citizens ID, cardholders can accept digital payments, send digital payments, and access local government services and benefits.
“A first in Visayas and Mindanao, the GCash-enabled citizens ID is another important milestone towards a smarter, more digital Tagbilaran City,” said Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Cajes Yap.
Yap said modernizing the transactions is not just for convenience but also a necessity, especially after Tagbilaran City has been awarded Most Business-Friendly City three times by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).
Tagbilaran City chief of staff Cathelyne Torremocha said the ID also provides a seamless financial transaction through the swipe card for payments in establishments.
Under this program, the city government has initially partnered with 14 city establishments where citizens card holders can avail discounts on beauty care and wellness, food, and home and property services.
GCash public sector head Cleo Celeste Santos said their partnership with the city government will help digitalize the city’s services and transactions.
“It is our goal to give everyone access to financial tools, to grow their businesses or help them in their day to day operations, like paying bills, receiving payments and transferring money at the tip of the fingers,” said Santos. (RAHC/PIA Bohol)
