Taguig caps Coop Month with icon awards night

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) –The Taguig City Government capped off the month-long celebration of Cooperative Month 2023 with the Coop Icon Awards Night 2023, to recognize and honor the outstanding individuals and cooperatives shaping the cooperative community in Taguig.

As the home of the biggest cooperative communities in the country with a total asset of P 89.07 billion and 106 active cooperatives, Taguig is committed to fostering a strong cooperative sector. This commitment aligns with its constitutional mandate to promote fairness, social justice, and sustainable economic growth.

Mayor Lani Cayetano, in her message, recognized the dedication of the 531,162 cooperative members and expressed gratitude for their invaluable contribution to the city’s Transformative, Lively, and Caring City agenda.

“In our pursuit of becoming a truly transformative, lively, and caring city we wholeheartedly support and collaborate closely with our cooperatives. Each of you exemplifies the profound impact of cooperatives in creating jobs, expanding economic opportunities and promoting local businesses and industries,” Mayor Lani said during the awarding rites held on October 27 at the Taguig Convention Center, New City Hall.

She also congratulated the cooperative sector for a successful celebration of Cooperative Month and wished them continued productivity and empowerment in their initiatives. (taguig pio/pia-ncr)
