ILIGAN CITY (PIA) — Members of the Task Force Baklas here started removing campaign materials that were illegally hanging in various areas in the city on March 28.
The operation covered the national highway from Barangay Dalipuga to Barangay Buruun.
The task force was composed of personnel from the Commission on Elections (Comelec), Iligan City Police Office, 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, City Engineer’s Office, City General Services Office, Department of Public Works and Highways, Bureau of Fire Protection, Department of the Interior and Local Government, and Iligan Light and Power, Inc.
City Election Officer Anna Liza Barredo said each barangay has designated common poster areas, and any campaign materials outside these areas are illegal and subject to removal.
There are 54 common poster areas, typically located within barangay halls or gymnasiums.
“Napahigayon na nato ang atong candidate’s briefing, diin gi-brief na mo sa dos and don’ts,” she told local candidates.
(We have already conducted our candidate’s briefing, where you were briefed on the dos and don’ts.)
Barredo added that a handbook containing important provisions for the campaign period was also provided to candidates to ensure a peaceful and successful election. (LELA/PIA-10/Lanao del Norte)
