TB detection: Caloocan offers free chest x-rays to residents

MANILA, (PIA) — Caloocan City government is providing free chest X-ray services to residents to help detect early signs and symptoms of tuberculosis (TB). This initiative, announced on Saturday, Feb. 22, is part of the city’s 63rd Cityhood Anniversary celebration.

The program, called the “TB Caravan,” aims to identify TB cases early, prevent the disease’s spread, and offer residents access to the city’s early treatment programs.

According to the city’s Public Information Office, the free chest X-rays are available to residents aged 15 and older.

Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan expressed his gratitude to those who took advantage of the free service, highlighting its importance for public health and safety, particularly for vulnerable populations.

I understand that the pain and hardship caused by TB are no small matter. That’s why I am grateful to all our fellow citizens who have undergone checkups, as this is a great help in our administration’s goal of keeping infectious diseases away from our communities—especially for the welfare of children, senior citizens, and other vulnerable individuals,” Malapitan said.

The mayor also assured residents that this initiative is part of the city government’s ongoing commitment to promote public health and well-being. He reiterated his dedication to providing accessible healthcare services for all.

Since I began serving as City Mayor, the health of our citizens has always been a priority. That’s why we have ensured that as part of our celebration for the 63rd Anniversary, we continue to provide free and accessible medical services,” Malapitan added.

He further emphasized that the city’s healthcare programs will remain a top priority for his administration. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
