QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — The ongoing development of the Taguig City Integrated Terminal Exchange (TCITX) is set to significantly improve travel times for over 160,000 commuters across Metro Manila, according to Department of Transportation (DOTr) Undersecretary Jesus Ferdinand Ortega.
“This initiative will speed up travel; a study shows that the travel time from Bicutan to San Mateo, which is in the northern part of NCR, will be reduced from 1 hour and 50 minutes to less than 30 minutes,” Ortega explained.
Traffic relief expected
The TCITX will also facilitate a smoother transit for buses coming from Batangas, Quezon, and Laguna, which currently navigate through EDSA or C5 to reach their terminals.
This change is anticipated to alleviate traffic congestion on these major thoroughfares.
Ortega noted that while the project is promising, it will take two to three years to complete.
“We hope to expedite the process so that commuters can benefit sooner,” he added.
As both the GSIS MPL Max program and the TCITX project unfold, they are expected to enhance the financial and commuting experiences of government employees and Metro Manila residents alike. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
