MAMBAJAO, Camiguin (PIA)–Uplifting lives by equipping individuals with the specific skills required in their communities, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-10 Camiguin Provincial Office, in collaboration with the Camiguin School of Arts and Trades (CSAT) and the Provincial Government of Camiguin, organized the 2022 Special Training for Employment Program Toolkit Distribution for Construction Painting NC II, September 14, 2023, here.
As part of the Special Training for Employment Program, TESDA is leading an initiative to give deserving beneficiaries essential starter toolkits with a focus on encouraging entrepreneurship and self-employment.
Lonie Gonzaga, acting provincial director of TESDA Camiguin, emphasized the agency’s commitment to enhancing the lives of beneficiaries by offering free training, tools, assessments, and allowances. She highlighted the versatility of the skills acquired, stating that individuals who cannot secure wage employment have the option to pursue self-employment, catering to individual clients.
“Kung dili mo makatrabaho through wage employment, pwede mo mu-self-employment. Meaning, ang inyong nahibaw-an na skills sa construction painting NC II, pwede mo hire-ron sa naa’y mga indibidwal na mga clients [If you cannot work through wage employment, you can do self-employment. The skills that you know in construction painting NC II can be hired by individual clients],” Gonzaga said.
For her part, CSAT Administrator Karol Sanggomay Ranalan underscored the significance of these starter toolkits, explaining that they empower recipients to embark on their entrepreneurial journey. She encouraged beneficiaries to utilize their newfound skills in construction painting NC II to improve their livelihoods and change their life status for the better.
“Having this starter toolkit with you, you can now start your own livelihood, start earning, and help change your life status. So, make your showcase and use what you have learned in construction painting NC II through this starter toolkit,” Ranalan said.
Shella Babanto, a Sangguniang Panlalawigan member, reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to securing training programs like those offered by TESDA to benefit their constituents. She expressed her assurance that such initiatives would continue to be pursued to empower the community.
Beneficiaries of TESDA’s program, Carmelita Awa and Marino Tirariray, expressed their gratitude for the opportunity. They acknowledged the significance of the program, not only in providing employment opportunities but also in enabling them to enhance their homes with the acquired painting skills.
“Dako kaayo among pasalamat kay makahatag kini kanamo og trabaho, employment, katong gusto manarbaho pero katong dili, para pud sa atong kaugalingon, naa nay mga pintal para sa among kaugalingong balay [We are very grateful because it can give us work, employment, to those who want to work, but for those who don’t, personally, we now have paint for our own house],” they expressed.
The initiative signifies a significant step towards skills development and economic empowerment in Camiguin, reflecting the collaborative efforts of TESDA, CSAT, and the provincial government. (RTP/PIA-10/Camiguin)
