TESDA, DepEd to help Grade 12 tech-voc learners get national certification

ILOILO CITY (PIA) — The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Western Visayas partnered with the Department of Education (DepEd) in helping Senior High School (SHS) Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) Track learners to have access and pass the assessment for the national certification.

Key personnel and focal persons of both agencies here in the region discussed and aligned their initiatives in a joint planning workshop on the implementation of the Senior High School (SHS) Assessment and Certification Support Program following the signing of a joint memorandum circular between TESDA and DepEd.

The JMC, titled “Ensuring Quality-Assured Assessment for Certification of Senior High School Technical-Vocational Livelihood Track” institutionalizes the mandatory assessment for SHS tech–voc learners to assess their skills and boost their employability.

TESDA VI Acting Regional Operations Division Chief Cecilia Burdeos said the workshop was a vital platform for TESDA and DepEd to ensure that the region’s SHS students are fully supported as they transition to higher education or the workforce.

“Through streamlined assessments and enhanced assessor qualifications, the partnership aims to provide students with the skills and competencies needed to succeed,” said Burdeos.

This year, a total of 28,099 slots will be available to SHS learners in Western Visayas who are qualified to undergo the free assessment and certification in the region which will be charged to the allocation of TESDA.

Eligible learners need to apply at TESDA accredited Assessment Centers and submit required documents to avail of the free assessment and certification. (LAF/PIA6-Iloilo)
