TESDA highlights training programs in Post-SONA Forum in Sultan Kudarat

ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat (PIA) — An official of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) emphasized the significance of the agency’s free training programs in enhancing employability among Filipinos.

TESDA Deputy Director General for Special Concerns, Felizardo R. Colambo, highlighted their efforts to equip individuals with necessary job market skills during the Post-State of the Nation Address (SONA) Forum on Sept. 26 at the Sultan Kudarat provincial gymnasium.

(We encourage you to contact Sultan Kudarat’s technical-vocational institutions and the TESDA office to learn what skills are required so you can prepare yourself for employment.)

He also urged the public to sign up for training programs that meet the demands of various industries’ current labor markets.

The official then encouraged Sultan Kudarateños to seize the opportunity for TESDA scholarships, particularly those focusing on digital economy skills.

Kaya sa mga nanay at tatay hikayatin ang ating mga anak na mag tech-voc may kinalaman sa digital economy,” he added.

(Parents, let’s encourage our children to pursue tech-voc careers in the digital economy.)

Colambo underscored the importance of equipping individuals with the necessary skills to excel in the rapidly changing digital environment and other fields.

He also reiterated President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s statement on the vital role of technical vocational education and training (TVET) in empowering Filipinos during the president’s SONA in July this year.

Colambo emphasized that TESDA’s initiatives have successfully bridged the skills gap, with 79% of TVET graduates now employed, demonstrating the program’s effectiveness.

He stated that TESDA is dedicated to establishing training programs and partnerships with various sectors to help graduates secure better employment opportunities.

Colambo further conveyed that the administration’s strong support for TVET signifies its commitment to equipping Filipinos with the skills necessary for sustainable economic growth.

The Post-SONA Forum is a series of activities initiated by the Presidential Communications Office through the Philippine Information Agency that aim to showcase the accomplishments of various programs implemented under the Marcos administration at the community level.

The event was held in partnership with the Sultan Kudarat’s provincial government as host of the Soccsksargen leg forum. (CRM – PIA Region 12)
