IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay (PIA) – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-9 recently inaugurated its first-ever Regional Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) Innovation Center in the Zamboanga Peninsula, a state-of-the-art Php40 million facility located at the Zamboanga Sibugay Polytechnic Institute (ZSPI).
The grand unveiling was led by TESDA Director General, Secretary Jose Francisco “Kiko” B. Benitez, who emphasized the role of technical education in securing employment for the youth in the region.
Speaking during the event, Sec. Benitez highlighted the central goal of TESDA’s programs, which is employment.
The end goal of TESDA should really be employment,” he said, adding that the success of polytechnic institutes like ZSPI hinges on their ability to deliver results.
If we can prove to the public that we are successfully addressing their aspirations, the demand for our programs will follow,” he stressed.
The Innovation Center, which focuses on Machining and Computer Numerical Control (CNC), aims to provide advanced training, cutting-edge equipment, and modern infrastructure to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in local industries.
“It’s not just about the facilities; it’s about delivering on the promise of employment,” said Benitez.
He also underscored the importance of collaboration in ensuring the success of TESDA’s programs, noting that the synergy between various government agencies, local government units (LGUs), and the industry is vital.
He praised the relationship between Region 9’s stakeholders, particularly the TVET Institutions (TVIs), the industry, and the local government, for making the region one of the top performers in terms of TVET achievements.
The success of TESDA programs is a result of effective partnerships, and the synergies between our stakeholders. Zamboanga’s close collaboration with TVIs, industries, and LGUs ensures the growth of TVET programs here,” Benitez added.
He emphasized that TESDA’s message is clear: “When we work together at TESDA, we can achieve great things.”
The center is expected to become a vital hub for producing skilled workers in the region, addressing the labor market’s growing demands. It is a testament to TESDA’s continued commitment to innovation and excellence in technical education. (EDT/JPA/Zamboanga Sibugay)
