AMULUNG, Cagayan (PIA) – – Residents of the western towns of Cagayan now have enhanced opportunities to develop their technical skills with the inauguration of the TESDA Provincial Training Center (PTC) in Barangay Nangalasauan, Amulung, Cagayan.
The new facility, which cost P20 million, spans two stories and aims to address the Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET) needs of residents from nearby municipalities, including Solana, Amulung, and Alcala.
TESDA Director General Jose Francisco Benitez, who attended the inauguration, emphasized that the new center aligns with TESDA’s ongoing mission to expand access to technical education across provinces.
He noted that the PTC will not only address the growing demand for skilled workers but also stimulate the local economy by equipping residents with valuable technical skills.
Benitez reiterated TESDA’s commitment to preparing the Filipino workforce for the challenges posed by emerging technologies, such as automation and artificial intelligence (AI), ensuring that the workforce remains competitive and future-ready.
3rd District Representative Joseph Lara, who played a key role in securing funding for the project, said with the center now conveniently located, residents will no longer have to travel long distances to Tuguegarao City, the regional center, thus reducing the burden of long commutes and transportation costs.
“No more hassle from long travel or concerns about transportation expenses—this center is now within their reach,” he said.
The training center occupies a 2,000-square-meter lot generously donated by Dr. Zara Lara. (OTB/GVB/PIA-Cagayan)
