TESDA provides skills training to 70 PDLs

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) — Some 70 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) in the Isabela Provincial Jail have successfully completed livelihood skills training conducted by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) – Isabela.

 

The graduation ceremony was held inside the jail facility on December 19, 2023, which marked the significant milestone on for the rehabilitation of the PDLs.

TESDA Isabela Provincial Director Vilma Cabrera said the training for PDLs aims to provide them with necessary skills for their future livelihood.

Cabrera said a total of 25 PDLs have graduated in Dressmaking NC II, 25 in Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II, and 20 in Bread and Pastry Production NC II.

Provincial Jail Warden Emelito Mrquez expressed his sincerest gratitude to TESDA Isabela for providing skills training to the PDLs, which is necessary in their livelihood activities.

“I sincerely thanked TESDA Isabela for providing skills training to the PDLs at the Isabela Provincial Jail, which will make them productive while inside the facility,” Marquez said.

The PDLs who graduated in the skills training also received cash allowance of P3,000 and toolkits as start up capital.
